Pauillac could be said to be the most important quality area of Bordeaux as it contains three of the five Médoc 'first growth' châteaux. The region produces stylish wines of great concentration and flavour, amongst the world's finest reds. However, wine simply labelled 'Pauillac' without indication of a châteaux or classification will be of good everyday quality only.
